Yesterday morning marked a significant event at Skygate multi-deck carpark, Brisbane Airport, as we officially launched the Live Like Her Challenge 2024. The atmosphere was electric with enthusiasm and commitment as Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner and Lady Mayoress Nina Schrinner led the charge to rally our community for a cause close to our hearts.
The Live Like Her Challenge is an annual initiative aimed at addressing housing solutions for older homeless women in Brisbane. It's more than just a challenge; it's a commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Our CEO, Teresa Reed, delivered a stirring speech during the press conference, emphasizing the urgency and impact of our collective efforts. Gert-Jan de Graaff, CEO of Brisbane Airport Corporation, also spoke passionately about the cause, highlighting the importance of community support in tackling homelessness.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Lady Mayoress Nina Schrinner for her patronage and unwavering support. Special thanks also go to Gert-Jan de Graaff and the Brisbane Airport team for generously hosting the Live Like Her Challenge once again this year. Your kindness and dedication are truly commendable and inspire us all.
The core of the challenge lies in its simplicity yet profound impact. On September 5, 2024, we invite you to join us in spending one night in your car. This symbolic act not only raises awareness but also directly contributes to providing shelter for homeless women over 55 in our city.
