International Women Day Afternoon Tea Fundraiser supported by Queensland Police Service
We are thrilled to announce that our recent afternoon tea fundraiser was a huge success, raising over $3500 for The Forgotten Women project. Held on March 11th at Hercules Road State School Hall, the event was attended by over 250 people who enjoyed a delicious high tea and heard from enlightening speakers on the topic of homelessness among older women, the fastest growing homeless population in Australia.
We were honored to hear from our speakers Teresa Reed, CEO of Mangrove Housing and founder of The Forgotten Women project, Helen Williams, author of the Retirement Ready, and Linda Hahn, who shared her lived experience as a forgotten woman.
The event was initiated in collaboration with Queensland Police Service, who are working with The Forgotten Women to raise awareness and funds around the growing problem of homelessness in women over 55.
The event was made possible thanks to the generous support of our sponsors: Trending Media Australia, Yvette D'Ath MP, Redcliffe Friendly Grocer, Jack Reed Foundation, GKS Law & Torque Ford, as well as local businesses who sponsored whole tables and donated raffle prizes.
Attendees had the opportunity to visit informational and relaxation stalls featuring personal development coach Lisa Duncan, GKS Law offering legal support, Toni Galli Wood from Doterra Oils, and Kerry Coy from Prana Massage.
We are grateful for the support of our community and look forward to continuing our efforts to help those in need.
